I have a new fun technique that I LOVE! We probably played with this technique for at least 2 hours tonight so I could practice enough to make this card. I thought that the technique alone was so beautiful that I didn't really need to put very much on the card.
Marie (my BFF , downline, stamping buddy) went to a rubber stamping show this weekend called the Heritage .... something or other... and learned this great technique from one of the booths there. She goes to this show every year and I think next year I am going to make sure I have no classes so that I can tag along!
Remember that you can click any of the images on my blog to see the image larger :) I think these ones you will want to do that with. Because you will see that the flowers, grass and leaves are multi colors without the technique of watercoloring! How cool is that! it actually took me less then 1 minute to color the entire image!
How did I do it? And what did I use to make it look that way?
First...
what did I use!
- Bashful Blue Stampin' Write Marker
- Baja Breeze Stampin' Write Marker
- Marina Mist Stampin' Write Marker
- Certainly Celery Stampin' Write Marker
- Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write Marker
- Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker
- Glossy White Card Stock
- Just Believe Stamp Set
I started first with the flowers and the lightest blue that I had picked. You can use different colors I would just make sure that they are close in hue from lightest to darkest. But I started out with the Bashful Blue and just colored directly on the stamp with the marker in completely random places of the flower. I then did it over again with the other colors.
I just kept coloring all over with the different colors completely random - I did find the trick to this technique is to color in a small circular motion. If I colored in strokes then it didnt look quite as nice. So small circular motions.
For the leaves and the grass I did the Certainly Celery then Pear Pizzazz, and then the Crumb Cake. Although, I am thinking even a brown that is a little darker (not much) would even look really good!
After I had it completely colored - I blew (not huff) on it to dry it a little - not completely, just a little bit! And then stamped it on the glossy white card stock.
After that, if you would like to use a background stamp to make it really pop even more - use the same technique. I just used 2 colors with that however - I first colored the background stamp with Bashful Blue all over this time - then I randomly colored with Marina Mist in different places. I then stamped it over the flowered image of Just Because stamp set.
And there you go! Easy peasy nice and easy! ... well not at first.. believe me I played for a couple of hours and still feel that I need to play some more... I am not sure if that is because I want to try to do better , or I just like playing with the technique..haha! Probably a little of both!
What else did I use for the card?
- Whisper White CS
- Baja Breeze CS
- Bashful Blue CS
- Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon
- Pear Pizzazz CS
- Gettin' Crafty Double Bow Template
- Mini Glue Dots
- Stampin' Dimensionals
- Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Border Punch
- Snail (mono) Adhesive
