It's time for the Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Challenge (CCMC-HM1)! I had a blast doing this design for the sketch this week's challenge and I can't wait to see how different each Designer did this sketch!
I love how you can give everyone the same sketch and get completely different ideas out of it! I LOVE IT!
This week on Create with Connie and Mary, we've been focusing on Dark and Dreary Stamp Set, The Midnight Musings Wheel and Spooky Night rub-ons from the Holiday Mini Catalog. I used the Dark and Dreary Stamp set. I love the new Night Owl Designer paper that we have to go with it, as it is all based on my favorite author Edgar Allen Poe. The writing on the designer paper is actually words from his story "The Raven". Makes me feel like I need to read that story again, although my favorite story is "Tale Tale Heart".
I had a great time making the basic black ribbon roses and using the new glimmer brads that are in the new Holiday Mini! I didn't think I would get to much into the glimmer brads, but now I have found that I can't really stop using them! Especially on all my Halloween stuff!
The glimmer brads are also great because, you know me... I like to have a clean finish on my cards, I don't like having anything out of place or sticking through the other side where I want my note (in my case novel) to be. So the prong part of the brads actually come off quite nice and easy with just a cut from the Stampin' Up! paper snips!
I hope you can see there where I have cut the prong's off. Then I just attached them with a mini glue dot. that way they still look great, and the inside of the card does as well! Plus it is fun to get that look of "how did you do that!" teehee! :)
I also took a sponge dauber not only on the edges of the image but ran some Stazon Jet Black ink on the designer paper as well all over to give it an aged dirty look.
